On this day in history, 22nd June 1559, Queen Elizabeth I's Prayer Book was issued. This version of the Book of Common Prayer "was a conservative revision of the 1552 edition, with the effect of making it somewhat less "Protestant"."
You can read more about this Elizabethan version of the Book of Common Prayer, and the changes that were made, in the article "The Book of Common Prayer" at http://justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/1559/BCP_1559.htm and you can also read the book itself there. It's a great resource.
