Christmas Carols

Christmas just isn't Christmas for me without listening to traditional Christmas carols, although I do like a bit of Michael Bublé! In today's Claire Chats I talk about Christmas carols and their history.

You can find out about other traditions associated with wassailing at https://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/Hymns_and_Carols/Notes_On_Carols/wassailing.htm

Did you watch The Truth About Christmas Carols with Howard Goodall on BBC 4_the other night, looking at the history of our carols and how they evolved from community singing to inside the Church in the nineteenth century? I highly recommend it. What was it said, oh yes, if Christmas was a woman, Henry Viii would have married her.
