Thursday 27 June 2024
A talk by one of His Majesty's heralds Dr Dominic Ingram, Portcullis Pursuivant. The history of heraldry and the role of the heralds is a fascinating story going back to medieval times. Heralds' royal duties today are ceremonial including roles at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and the Coronation of Charles III.
Tudors, Magic and Music

Come to Acton Court’s end of season weekend which is always a joyous occasion. This year our special guests include Magician Greg Chapman - performing magic tricks from the 16th century, The Merchant’s House Musicians - playing traditional Tudor music on replica period instruments, Lady Samantha - demonstrating the dressing up and down of a Tudor Lady and leading visitors in Tudor dancing, Plus birds of prey, painting activity and display of Tudor Court Dress.
Acton Court sounds like a fantastic destination for history enthusiasts and those interested in Tudor culture! The variety of events, from self-guided tours to fascinating talks like “The King’s Heralds,” offers such a rich and immersive experience. I’m especially excited about the “Tudors, Magic, and Music” weekend—it seems like a fun and educational way to step back in time with the magic tricks and Tudor dancing. This is definitely an event worth marking on the calendar for 2024!
