You can read all about Lent and Shrovetide in my Lent article - click here - but off you go to make yourself a nice bacon sandwich! You're just following a centuries' old tradition, just blame me for posting about this! Enjoy!

If you need help to make the perfect British style bacon sandwich then here's an article from The Telegraphy - What's the formula for the perfect bacon sandwich?. For me, when I was a meat-eater, the perfect bacon sandwich was made with white bread, unsmoked bacon, ketchup and brown sauce. I didn't like my bacon too crispy, either.

On this day in history, 27th February 1545, the English forces were defeated by the Scots at the Battle of Ancrum Moor, near Jedburgh in Scotland. Members can read more in my article The Battle of Ancrum Moor - click here.
