The Tudor Society

V & A Museum courses

London's Victoria and Albert Museum has been in touch with me to let me know about a couple of courses that may be of interest to Tudor Society members. They have just launched their new programme of adult learning courses for 2019-20, which includes the courses: "The Later Stuarts: Court and Country", and "London Life and Times: Medieval to Modern".

"London Life and Times: Medieval to Modern" runs over three terms (one day a week), from Wednesday 25 September 2019 - Wednesday 8 July 2020. You can find out more and book your place here, but here is the blurb:

"Guided by leading historians and V&A curators, journey from London’s early days as the principal city of a feudal kingdom to a modern global metropolis. Trace the impact of settlers from all over the globe and the city’s incredible cultural richness and resilience, tested through plague, fire and war. By the end of the course, you will have mapped out the events and individuals that shaped the capital’s fascinating history."

There are options to buy a day ticket or a 1 term ticket.

"The Later Stuarts: Court and Country" is just 4 weeks long and runs from Wednesday 2 October 2019 - Wednesday 27 November 2019. Here is the blurb:

"Looking at houses, interiors and fashions between 1660 to 1714, explore this significant period in the history of England. Buildings designed by Christopher Wren, portraiture, and tours of the V&A’s collection will provide unique insight into the Restoration court, life in London and the country."

You can find out more and book your place here.

They do sound like wonderful courses!
